Description: DOGTOPIA® IS A FRANCHISE THAT FOCUSES ON DOGS! What's offered? Dog day care, overnights, spa services, a self-serve dog wash, training classes, a boutique, and even birthday parties! During the day, dogs are placed into play groups that are best suited to the dog's temperament and size. Dogtopia® has three to four daycare rooms ranging in size from 800 square feet to 2,000 square feet, with styles to suit every dog. Each playroom is equipped with padded rubber flooring (Tuflex). The "gymnasium," is the largest of the playrooms, and is for large, active dogs. The "Romper Room" is for smaller dogs and gentler players, and the "Lounge" is for dogs who just want to relax with their friends. "Each playgroup goes outdoors for a scheduled bathroom break in the morning before heading off to playime. After several hours of romping, sniffing and lounging, all dogs take a well-deserved nap between noon and 2:00 p.m. During this time, dogs receive requested snacks or medications. After naptime, the dogs are back outside for another bathroom break, with possible ball throwing or "swimming," depending on the weather." (URL removed) About me: My name is Lindsay Thompson, and I live in Baton Rouge, LA. I have been actively investigating Dogtopia since March 2008. At the end of June 2008, I traveled to Houston TX to visit one of the daycares, and from there to Dogtopia's headquarters in North Bethesda, Maryland. There, I attended "Discovery Day" which is a day long meeting for potential franchisees to learn more about the business. Without a doubt, I want to purchase and open a Dogtopia franchise! It's a great concept and something that Baton Rouge really needs. Currently, there isn't any place in Baton Rouge for dogs that is nearly as spectacular as Dogtopia; its in a different league! The staff at Dogtopia headquarters provides their franchisees with on-going support to promote their success. Dogs are my passion! I grew up in a home where there was always at least two dogs living in the house. As an adult, I have three of my own and currently have four foster dogs... yes I have seven dogs right now! :) I have been part of APAWS Rescue group since January 2008. Job-related Experience: I have worked at a boarding facility, and at a vet office as a vet tech. I have also held sales and customer service positions. Education: I attended two semesters of college, one at Southeastern University and and the other at Baton Rouge Community College. My major was Business. I HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE SUCCESSFUL! I AM A HARD-WORKING, DETERMINED, DEDICATED INDIVIDUAL. HOWEVER, I'M LACKING THE $300,000 NEEDED TO START THE BUSINESS.
