Description:
As you know, Iowa suffered a devastating flood in 2008. I sit here every day thinking about all of the people who suffered devastating losses and the lack of housing and employment. I have completed my Bachelor's Degree and am working towards a Master's Degree. People are hungry. Produce in the supermarket is rotten and very poor quality due to long shipping times. Hydroponics Farming takes very little space, no soil, a lot of love and energy. I want to feed the hungry, the under-employed, and college students. We have a right to top quality produce. I want to start small with vegetables that don't need pollination and work my way up to include a greenhouse of fruit trees. It will be a lot of hard work. My children have an interest in this idea too and want to make it a family business. The problem is I had to file bankruptcy 5 years ago and I haven't been able to find work in the last 3 years. So I went back to school and finished my degree. Now I want to work and help others. I really like the idea of aquaponics too but I believe that will have to come down the road a ways. Start small and work your way up! There is a small business park on HWY 30 between Lisbon and Mt. Vernon. My goal is to provide fresh produce to local food pantries to help those in need. Being highly visible in the community will help with ongoing fundraising events. Government funding cuts have really hurt the low income households across America. We have to do something now to help those less fortunate. Hopefully, I will also be able to expand with time and create local jobs. We will start small and expand as able to a maximum of 30 employees. Thank you.
