Appalachian Riverboard Company is two related wings specializing in riverboard guiding and riverboard design and manufacturing. First is our adventure tourism wing. We currently offer instruction in eastern Tennessee on a very small scale ( usually 3-4 guests on a trip ). One hurdle in expansion has been that all of the commercial whitewater permits on a lot of rivers are taken ( a cap system is in place that unfairly protects the old guard from new competition ) limiting us to doing instruction with small trips under the radar. However beginning in 2013, we have a partnership with a rafting company to run trips under our name and under their permits. We can finally run trips with many more guests and are ready to build boards and get gear to expand our operation as soon as we acquire funding.
Second is our board design wing. We will provide boards for retail and operations at our outposts as well as sell and distribute them elsewhere. We hope to center our board building wing and office location in Asheville, NC so that we have central location and access to all of the whitewater hot spots in the southeast.
