Description:
May's Air Theatre Company allows young people with talent who get overlooked because of financial status etc. opportunities to perform in plays and musical drama pieces. My goal is to make sure I can pay all my performers at some point. They are so dedicated, they cover their own travel expenses and sre rehearsing in tight spaces, some of them come from low-income to mid-income households. I coordinate theatrical dance pieces that tell stories of struggles and victories. I am enrolling in college courses to pursue my dream of becoming a play director. I have licensed theater directors to assist me in my company ‘til I am fully certified. In these trying economic times, families are suffering and young people have completely gone astray. I am seeking funding to open up a community studio where people of all ages in Brooklyn, NY will have an outlet to release all their tension through dancing, acting, and singing. I will put on recitals and plays at low cost to the public and generate funds that way. I intend on putting on my first stage play in March 2012. I have a set case and a friend’s empty basement for rehearsals. For the dancers, I will need more space but will make do with the space I have for now.
