What better place to do it than one of the dog friendliest states in the U.S.? California, and more specifically Long Beach, has long embraced the dog population in the area by providing owners a multitude of dog friendly establishments for shopping, outdoor dining, and of course, their very own off-leash beach. Unfortunately, Long Beach is also the home to one of the highest population of stray animals in the country. It was learning this information which led to the second part of the mission behind Updog. At Updog we would like to donate a portion of our space for the housing, socializing, and training of foster/shelter dogs in the area. I believe, by opening up this space, we are allowing those dogs, who otherwise would not have a chance, a second chance at life. By partnering up with local organizations; Friends of Long Beach Animals and the Long Beach Companion Animal Village we hope to cut the stray population down as quickly as we can.
