Crosstie Solutions, LLC (“Company”) was founded by the Lane family as a legacy of patriarch’s company Aztec Foam formed almost 40 years ago in northern California. The main plank of Company’s patent was allowed by the United States Patent Trademark Office (“USPTO”). Company’s patent is for a new railroad crosstie to replace existing wood crossties placed under the iron rails. Wood crossties make up approximately 90% of crossties around the world as they are: the cheapest replacement crossties; transfer a train’s massive weight to the ground better than non-wood replacements; and have been the industry standard since the beginning of rail travel worldwide.
Problem:
Existing replacement crossties are: much more expensive than wood; in many cases replacement crossties do not integrate with existing crosstie replacement systems forcing railroads to invest in costly new replacement processes; do not transfer the trains massive weight to the ground as efficiently as wood crossties and not solving the problem of what to do with wood ties once you replace them.
Solution:
Company’s replacement crosstie has been designed, within its patent, to: be less expensive than wood crossties; use existing crosstie replacement systems enabling railroads to continue using existing replacement processes; recycle 50% of the used wood crossties transferring the trains massive weight directly to the ground with the same efficiency as the wood crosstie it is replacing; solves 50% of the wood crosstie disposal problem and is made in an optic EverGreen color making the statement that this is a safe crosstie where color safely replaces toxic chemicals.
