J Lang Marketing Co is basically two businesses in one.
1. Closeout Buyer/Seller - We buy excess, closeout, label changes, and short dated products from large and small food manufactures around the country. Many of the manufactures are national brands, and some are small companies which did not survive in the market and need to dump the product which they can't sell.
Once a company has given us the inventory available, we hit the market and pre-sell all the product before actually purchasing it ourselves, basically as a safety procedure so we are not stuck with product.
2. The other end of the business is a food brokerage. We represent a few different companies and their product lines to certain areas of the market. We work with both the Foodservice and Retail industry, and cover different areas of the country for each different company. With the end of the company, we sell product mainly to distributors in both markets (foodservice and retail) and on occasion sell direct into the actual retail outlet. We are paid a commission on all product sold, but are not paid until the manufacture is paid for the sale.
