Description: The Birth Lounge will be one of the first birthing centers in the U.S. to give women and their families an alternative to the traditional, 20th century hospital birthing experience. Our goal is to change the way families look at the birthing process, and the entire experience of having a baby, by offering resort and spa-style hospitality in a safe, comfortable, and luxurious setting. The Birth Lounge will also offer additional services including, but not limited to, the following: a full range of spa services, a variety of health practitioner services, elective 4D ultrasound, and even free on-site childcare. This is truly a brand new way to have a baby! Statistics indicate that in 2009 581,285 babies will be born in the state of California. The average cost of vaginal births (67% of all births) is $9k, and the average cost of cesarean sections (33% of all births) is $24k. That means birthing is a $7.75BB dollar industry in the state of California alone! With the rate of cesarean sections increasing, and the continual rise in health care costs, more and more women and their families will welcome safe and cost-effective alternatives to the hospital birthing experience. Most important of all, more and more women are discovering an increasing need to engage personal healthcare management. Women everywhere are discovering an increasing desire to avoid impersonal policies and suspect procedures that are too often mandated in impersonal hospital environments. More and more women and their families will be 'opting out' of traditional hospital birth procedures and 'opting in' to a more personal, and professional way of giving birth in a setting that is safe, respects their intuition, and feels just like home. The Birth Lounge will be one of the first birthing and family wellness center franchises in the United States.
