Description:
In a down market, it may seem counter-intuitive to look for opportunities within a luxury, discretionary-spending niche, however the recent market conditions have greatly enhanced the opportunities in this case. Here is a quick synopsis.
StorAway Solutions Inc., based in Bensenville IL., is a small but growing, provider of innovative accessory products (tie racks, pull-out mirrors etc.) to the custom closet and garage storage industry. Because of how StorAway, the competitors and the customers are reacting to the market down-turn, StorAway is a unique position to capture major market share in this high margin (50%+) industry and emerge within only a few years as the dominant market leader.
Over the last ten months, StorAway has proven a model of capturing market share, nearly doubling monthly sales in a market that has seen 20-30% reduction. Year-to-date, 64% of StorAway’s customers are first-time buyers. In one of the most uncertain months in history, October sales came in as one of the top sales months ever.
Currently with less than 4% market share StorAway has plenty of room to grow even if the market declines for a number of years. StorAway possesses a long, and growing, list of defensible proprietary products and sourcing avenues that give every indication that this drive is highly sustainable. Additionally, factors are present that indicate that the high-margin nature of the niche is unlikely to decline.
From start-up four years ago, StorAway has scratched its way to this position against larger competitors that possessed volume buying leverage and while operating below the critical mass sales level needed for sustained net profit. Now with a deeper knowledge of the customers’ needs, an exceptional idea-to-market process and competitors retreating from innovation, StorAway has put together a proven, repeatable, and scalable customer conversion model.
A major recent signed deal with a growing wholesaler enhances the situation. The first order, already received, is equal to 3X average monthly StorAway sales. Planned 2009 sales from this deal alone will more than double 2008 overall sales volume.
Due to some unusual circumstances, a highly driven leadership team is already in place that is exceptionally matched for planned growth initiatives.
• Experience leading business units much larger than StorAway’s current volume
• Vast experience developing and deploying successful low-capital, aggressive, high-growth strategies
• Extensive knowledge of the targeted customer base
• Proven ability to work together very effectively even in challenging situations
Additionally, StorAway’s current physical facilities are capable of handling 3-4 current sales volume.
StorAway is looking for capital to duplicate the model employed recently to grow market share, purchase inventory for qued-up deals and enable volume product purchasing. Due to the time constraints of their situation the principals are in very aggressive deal making mode.
