A. Business Description and Environment
Loving Lambs Academy is a daycare center which is designated to serve children ages, six weeks to four years. We are currently seeking to open a new facility in Marietta, Georgia and plan to operate as a licensed day care center in accordance with the guidelines and standards of the Georgia Department of Children and Family Services. The 4480 square foot facility is physically located at 324 Victory Drive in Marietta Georgia. The proposed facility will accommodate 80 children. This is an ideal location due to the fact that it is in close proximity to major traffic routes and along the Cobb Public Transit Route.
The facility is also located across the street from the Department of Children and Family Services and is near the Cobb County Civic Center, which offers an array of puppetry and cultural arts activities. Some other services nearby our facility include the aquatic center which we will use for recreation.
Since Loving Lambs is in the start up year, our co-directors have been working to develop relationships with business and daycare neighbors. One significant developed relationship that will yield customers is with the International Gospel Family Outreach Program. This group has an established record of offering quality services and has committed to partnering with Loving Lambs through referrals and services for the center. Customers will also consist of parents, who are current clients in the Loving Lambs home day care and referrals from the Georgia Department of Family Services (DCFS), and Bright for the Start (BTFS). Loving Lambs has established positive relationships with these state agencies while operating as a home day care.
The center will operate Monday – Friday between the hours of 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. The site will also offer part time and temporary care packages for children who are enrolled in other centers that offer part time programs.
The curriculum for Loving Lambs includes a blend between traditional early childhood methodologies and a Christian-based philosophy. This is accomplished with the use of the WEE LEARN Curriculum, which incorporates faith-based teaching and philosophical principles of note leaders in early childhood such as Erickson, Piaget and Howard Gardner. An overview of the WEE LEARN Curriculum is included in the program section of the plan.
Staff for the program will include appropriately certified directors, teachers and paraprofessionals. Each staff member will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check. One exceptional staff member is Mrs. Betty Hardwick, a Lead Pre-K teacher, who will be a liaison between the parents of our special needs children and the Brain Balance Centers facility to ensure appropriate services necessary for children with disabilities who attend our program.
Loving Lambs will operate in accordance with guidelines and standards as outline by the State of Georgia. The staff-child ratio at the center will adhere to the following guidelines.
