Every year 250,000 international students enroll in US colleges. A further 350,000 students in the US attend a school more than 500 miles away from home. Most of these students do not have an opportunity to visit the schools they have applied/been accepted to.
At StudentConnect, our goal is to help college applicants who don't have an opportunity to visit the schools they plan to apply to improve their chances of getting in by connecting them with actual students at these schools. Applicants will be able to find current students not only by school but also general interests, majors, background, extracurriculars, etc.
We have launched our pilot platform at (URL removed) and are gaining traction on the supply side (current students). To drive the demand side (prospective students) we are working on some significant partnership opportunities as well as marketing on social media.
We are looking for funding to build and launch our strategic platform which will entail a fully automated marketplace platform where prospective students can find and schedule meetings with current students as well as complete the meetings through video-chat on the platform.
