Description:
My wife Renuka began buying properties about three years ago in order to help her family. She currently has a single family residence in Indian Trail, North Caroline, another single family residence that is brand new as well as a four plex in Grants Pass, Oregon, 40 acres in northern California, 10 acres in Yucca Valley, California, and we own a mobile home in Brea, California.
She is very industrious. She has been able to help her family both here and in Trinidad where she was born. Sometimes the properties are profitable and sometimes they are not.
This year she did her own taxes through a software program. Since she spend more time with her real estate ventures than she did with teaching children with special needs in the Los Angeles Unified School District she was able to get a larger tax return this year.
I am a new real estate agent. I got my license about the time I began teaching with the same school district. I am a special education teacher also. This summer I had the time to complete my professional development classes in order to renew my real estate license. I had to let it expire in order to spend the time I needed teaching, preparing lesson plans, and studying in order to complete my teaching credential.
I recently had an interview with a man in Newport Beach, California that works for a company that buys hundreds of Bank REO's for .10 to .25 cents on the dollar. They sell them through agents like myself. I will be attending my first meeting tomorrow. I will make 10% of the sale price for every house that I sell. I will also get $500.00 for every agent that I sponsor that also sell houses through them. I will not be working with them with my license. They are just looking for a few people that they feel will represent their company well. They have a lot of attorneys working for them. They dress very professionally.
If this situation works out I will be looking for agents as well as investors that would like to buy and sell these properties. They can resell them. They can fix them up and rent or sell them. They can fix them up and live in them. It is up to them. The company makes their profit from buying hundreds of houses with cash. They turn around and sell them immediately. It should take from six to eighteen months for the owner to fix them up if they need it and to sell them.
Although this was not planned to be part of our company, Hayes Rentals, I am now realizing that we may also buy some properties. I may have enough to buy only one to start with and resell it without fixing it up. Regardless of what I do, I wanted to let you know what I am doing and see what you think about it. I prefer to build bridges and not walls unless necessary. I know that you invest in biological companies. You just happened to be the first person that I came across as I have now begun to investigate further opportunities outside of teaching. I want to work myself out of that field. I love helping people. I want to ultimately form a non-profit organization and work with Housing and Urban Development in order to provide lower and middle income families with homes to buy.
Thank you for taking the time to read my response. I hope I haven't distracted you since you invest in biological companies. Perhaps you could help direct me to people that I could help or that could help or guide me. Again, thank you for your time.

I am 54 years old and am an army veteran. I am starting to play tennis again so that I can stay healthy for my son who is 14 years old. My father died just before I turned 18 and I don't want that to happen to my son. My health has been getting poorer because I have focused on teaching and studying and not on relaxing and playing. I won the Los Angeles High School Doubles Tennis Championships when I was in high school and would like to get back into shape. So far I am returning to my health quickly. I have to keep everything in my life balanced though.
I wish you all the best in your investing as well as in the business that you work in.
