Introduction
During the past two decades, there has been explosive growth of the internet and simultaneously in the popularity of aspect of American urban culture, from speech, style of dress music and even mannerisms. Three decades ago, no one would have imagined, then unheard of such as Rap and Hip Hop would be voices for an entire worldwide generation. Experts and various pundits would not have envisioned a world where the style of dress, speech and mannerisms would be the most sought after traits to emulate and copy. Doubtless, many of the, so called, experts are still scratching their heads and asking themselves: “What happened?”
The answer for those who are still scratching their heads is fairly simple, what occurred was the advent of two dynamic forces; the internet and the hip hop urban culture. As is common knowledge, the internet and worldwide web have represented a quantum leap in the field of communications. Simultaneously the advent of the hip hop urban culture has created a massive sea change in the way we view, entertainment and fashion. Today, most Americans could not imagine a world without either the internet or the products of the hip hop urban culture.
Like the internet/worldwide web and hip hop culture, occasionally someone or something comes along that makes us sit up, pay attention or otherwise take notice. After careful study of the World Wide Web and Network Television, Jacque Bryon Oliphant, realized there was a significant window of opportunity to be exploited through the merging of the internet with entertainment and the hip hop culture. Mr. Oliphant understood the need for a vehicle to effectively fill the void in the quality of urban entertainment and the method(s) for its delivery.
With intimate knowledge and understanding of the internet, entertainment and urban culture, Bryon employed his resources to create an entity that would be effective in delivering the product/service line he had envisioned. The result was the creation of a unique new entertainment company, The League of Urban Culture (LUC). Oliphant’s inspiration for “The League of Urban Culture” was the recognized need to offer superior programming to an underserved, underrepresented urban market.
The intent of “The league of Urban Culture”, Inc., is be the premier entertainment, production, distribution and performance company specializing in maximizing the full potential of current entertainment business opportunities by providing entertainers and the fans the opportunity to interact through the wide reach of the Internet and providing advertisers with the opportunity to connect with the largest single consumer group in the world represented by the urban American market.
