Description: We seek to establish a thriving Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm. Since, a CSA farm sells its produce before the growing season begins, the farm’s gross CSA income covers labor, supplies, and organizational expenses, and sometimes will generate a return to the farm family. The business goal is to bring together farmers and urban families to organize Community Supported Agriculture projects (CSAs), especially in low-income neighborhoods. The CSAs connect growers with consumers in particular neighborhoods. With no advertising or middlemen, CSA farms can often provide organic fruits and vegetables to families for less than a supermarket, while still giving the small farmer a living wage. Our foundation will also subsidize share costs for very low-income families.
