Description: Poulin Domes was founded as a passion project by Bob Poulin in 1978. He has built and sold hundreds of domes over the years. This “Dome” is not the typical dome, but a hybrid of the good points of a traditional structure and a conventional dome. When I took over the business in 2018 and started working to get this to become a company that could actually become profitable, I realized that the design could keep the geometry (which is copyrighted) and still become the “IKEA” of buildings. Fire, storm, earthquake and flood resistant, these can have the self-supporting shell be pre-built with eco-friendly materials and can be put together on site with almost no trash or waste. We are ready to get going. I just need to set up the small factory and get the word out to the diy crowd and the tiny-home folks. Once this takes off, we are looking at self-funding zero-point neighborhoods that would have no utilities (except maybe water), and fresh food being grown as part of the master plan. In the short-term, we want to focus on small homes, temporary housing, “hunting cabins”, and diy sheds and structures.
