Jeffrey Seizer is an accomplished chef in the competitive world of New York City restaurants. Together with his partner, Gwen Butler, they have a combined forty years' experience opening and operating some of the most popular and successful restaurants in NYC, arguably the restaurant capital of the world.
In an effort to capitalize on the booming development of Durham, North Carolina, and the nearby cities of Raleigh and Chapel Hill, the partners have been invited to open their group's flagship restaurant in Downtown Durham by East West Partners, a cornerstone developer of the Triangle cities’ growth for the last forty years. Strategically located at the epicenter of a currently thriving restaurant hub -- in a brand new mixed-use building -- the location is within walking and short driving distance of all of the main cultural sites, athletic venues, and Duke University.
Il Barbone will serve American cuisine with an Italian soul and technique: fresh pasta and pizza made with seasonal local ingredients; meats, whole fish, and vegetables roasted in wood fired ovens. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served in a casually elegant atmosphere designed by the award-winning hospitality design firm William Hellow Studio.
Located directly across from the fifth largest farmers' market in the United States, Il Barbone will be the only restaurant of its kind in a 50-mile radius. And the only restaurant owned and operated by a chef and managing partner with an established track record in multi-million dollar New York City restaurants.
