Description: GF Activewear, established in 2012 by Social Entrepreneur & Humanitarian Goldin Martinez, is a recent start-up manufacturer of clothing apparel that provides quality fitness apparel for men, women, and children while raising awareness on key issues affecting urban youth such as homelessness, obesity, and poverty. GF Activewear strategically partners with local community organizations and leaders to produce special events for youth aimed at educating the public on and directly addressing these key social issues. By using proceeds from its sales to co-sponsor and promote these events, GF Activewear also creates unique advertising and promotional campaigns that establish it as a clothing brand with social relevance and impact. The company is newly formed and located in Brooklyn, NY. Goldin Martinez is founder and 100% owner of GF Activewear, a sole proprietorship. Founded in 2012 with less than $1,000 of start-up capital, the GF Activewear has become a full-time endeavor. The business started as a simple way to raise funds to help create a one day basketball tournament for children and teenagers. Mr. Martinez vision was to sell a t-shirt with his company logo on it and use the proceeds to help pay for the special event. His basketball event was a huge success. He had over 400 people attend the event, as well as 150 young people from New York City schools participate in his tournament. The success of his event made him realize that if he sold more shirts he could create more and more events all throughout New York City for young people and their families to benefit from. So the concept of GF Activewear was born. GF Activewear is a thought-provoking apparel line that promotes a positive message of health, unity, strength, and overall well-being while simultaneously enhancing the quality of life for children & their families. The business operates exclusively out of an extra small storage room in the basement owned by Mr. Martinez's best friend and celebrity photographer Dallas J. Logan. The space was donated by Mr. Logan and is used to store merchandise and shipping material.
