Description:
Sugar Creek Garden Center, Inc. will be a beautiful, upscale retail garden center located on seven wooded acres in York County, South Carolina. Sugar Creek will keep as many of the amazing trees that live on the property as is financially and logistically possible. Not only will the trees provide a wonderful ambiance, but they will also provide excellent shade for the retail center. Shade is important to shoppers as well as to keeping the plants healthy. Sugar Creek will build a one-story retail store with a big porch, rocking chairs, and lemonade on hot days. In addition to selling flowers and trees, Sugar Creek will sell gifts, gardening tools, accessories, birding items, and houseplants. Sugar Creek will have one heated greenhouse with retractable walls. The perennials, trees and shrubs will be merchandised on wooden tables and on the ground under the trees, which will provide excellent shade cover for the plants. A small out building will hold bagged goods like potting soil and fertilizer. Sugar Creek will offer a tree planting service and thus will have a small box truck and a pick up truck. Sugar Creek has no plans at this time to sell bulk topsoil or mulch and will not need a dump truck or storage area for bulk materials.
Being that a garden center is a seasonal business, Sugar Creek will host seasonal family events. The events will be nice for the community as well as helping to mitigate the seasonality of our business by drawing people into the store. There are countless opportunities; from "tapas in the garden", to football kick-off, to garden clubs, seminars, scouting badges, and maybe even a home for the local science fair. The land that goes around behind the church will be a great place for a nature trail and outdoor classroom for hosting such events.
