I’ve had the extraordinary privilege these past 25 years of not only being a leader, but also of selecting over a thousand people for leadership positions based on their potential and their track record. Now as a writer, speaker, trainer, coach, facilitator and OD consultant, I’m sharing that information with others. Power and authority are not at the heart of success. That seems obvious, but not everyone knows it. When people have hope and they share the vision, good performance follows. Emotions and the human heart are amazingly powerful – when a leader truly collaborates and connects with those aspects of each person, and stops treating them as a number, and lets them know it’s okay to be a human with feelings, workers give more of themselves and leadership feels natural.
