Description: At this point, I know that I have done nothing to distinguish myself from the myriad of aspiring writers whose pitches you are obligated to read. Which is why I would like you to watch this: (8 minutes, yes, this IS relevant to this pitch). (URL removed) Now that I have your attention, I would like you to quickly watch this: (5 minutes) (URL removed) NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT CONTINUE ON WITH UNTIL YOU HAVE WATCHED THE TWO SHORT FILMS ABOVE, AS THEY ARE RELEVANT TO THIS PITCH! Now, regarding the short films you just watched… During the last 90 days I have received thousands of emails of praise, gratitude, and admiration from students, professionals, university professors, and religious leaders… Why though have these short films been so popular? What is it that makes them work? Simple, here’s what: The music… the images… the timing… the sequencing… the message... But perhaps most importantly… the emotion! They WORK! Hi, my name is Evan Mark, and I have a feature-length film that will made in the same spirit as the shorts you just watched. It will be extraordinarily popular, cost relatively little, make money, and will doubtless be nominated for a variety of awards. THE FILM: Title: “Betrayal” TAG LINE: "Betrayal" is the story of a man trying to reconcile his Catholic upbringing and lifestyle with memories of child sexual abuse at the hands of Father Paul, a trusted family Priest. SYNOPSIS: Married with two children, and living strong in his Catholic faith, Luke has everything he could want in life. His life shatters, however, when he uncovers memories of sexual abuse as a child by a family priest. As memories resurface, Luke is plagued by psychological anguish. His life spirals downward into drugs, divorce, and crime as he loses his wife, his children, and ultimately, his freedom. Years later, Luke attempts to build a new life, but cannot escape the damage Father John inflicted. The story comes to a climax when he finally confronts his tormentor. ABOUT THIS FILM: “Betrayal” will not be expensive to produce. I anticipate the cost at 2-4 million dollars. Like the short films you just watched, “Betrayal” is set entirely to music. This music has already been chosen. Will be set to dramatic (yet to be filmed) video footage. All the acting in the film will be “method” acting with no dialogue. In addition to the writing, I will be directing, acting in, and editing this film. One of my aims with “Betrayal” will be to recreate the emotional impact of the two short films you just watched. Again, I am very confident that this can be done. I have lived in and traveled throughout Europe. I am very confident that this film will resonate with both American and Europeans. I am confident of it doing very well at the box office and at film festivals. I do anticipate it winning awards. I hope to hear from you soon. I’m eager and excited to work with you on this project.
