Description: YBE Magazine was created as an online blog site in 2005 but has been published as an online magazine since 2013. It was created to combat the negative influences and perceptions in media. About the young black experience, YBE targets young men, ages 17 to 30, and deals with life issues they face. YBE educates and empowers young people to be successful and responsible in all aspects of life and to not be limited by stereotypes and societal constraints. YBE motivates young people to deal with the issues in our community in order to create a better community and better world for future generations. Since its inception, YBE has been a one-man operation, from content to web design to advertising and promotion. By being responsible for every aspect of the website and publication, I am not able to reach as broad an audience or produce as much relevant content for readers. Funding will allow YBE to reach new readers throughout the country and fulfill the purpose of empowering young people to succeed and create a better world for future generations. Funding will allow YBE to invest in producing and distributing the magazine (in print and electronic formats), while also investing in people who can make the magazine a success - writers, editors and designers. YBE will invest in the software and technology to produce a higher-quality product for our readers. YBE will increase awareness through marketing and social media efforts to a broader audience and advertisers to generate and maintain revenue for continued production.
