Description:
I am opening a small salon in downtown Hyannis on Cape Cod. I am a disabled veteran and have been working in the Skincare industry for 5 years. After seeing how two very different business run that I have worked for, I decided to open my own. My salon reminds me of what little girls dream of. Playing beauty shop with your girl friends. Well I dreamed of opening my own shop. So I am opening this salon in the craziest economy! I have decided to be a booth owner and rent out to the girls. The best part about the girls that are working with me is that they are all young mothers, who are making their own dreams come true. The salon will be offering hair and skin services, but in the environment that is remenicent of hanging out with the girls. Of course the boys are allowed, and of course why wouldn't they want to be here anyways? I do not want to be some overpriced salon that does not connect with their clients. Our clients are our friends!
I would love to be able to get the best products that I can but obviously these are very expensive. I'm looking to stay eco friendly with the products I choose. It's better for my clients and the environment. I'm looking at Glo Minerals and Suki (another female owned business). SO that is where I need the most help to begin with. To be able to go the work, I can handle that. I love what I do, but need the products to do it. I need help and am not very good asking for it. So I hope that when I admit that I need help, my questions might have answers.
After I get the business off and running, I would really like to buy the lot across the street to sell parking spot for local businesses. Right now there is a vacant restraunt there that has been closed down for several years. There are many new businesses in the area and new housing as well. But there is no parking in the area. I want to buy the lot, demo the building, build a new parking garage, but using shingles and made to look like a local building. If there were more parking int he area, my little salon could grow...
If there were more parking in the area, then I could demo my building, expand and build two apartments above the shop. This way, I'm expanding my business, providing an opportunity to get rental income, and be able to have parking for all these would need.
After that I would open a sister location to be run by one of the girls starting up with me. We would again, stay small and motivated until given another opportunity to grow and bloom like the flowers we are. All while maintaining my original goals for providing opprortunities for local women, single mothers, veterans, and who are excellent at their craft.
