If you are not familiar with the area this is a very narrow swath of land that runs from the California/Mexican border north to the County of Santa Barbara. Typically values range from $3,500 per square foot to about $700 per square foot. The spread between building costs and values is huge. Running from $3,300 per square foot to $500 per square foot.
