Description:
Sahara M is a private company incorporated in Ghana with the objective of engaging in agriculture, agro-processing, finance, manufacturing, manufacturers’ agents, mining, petrochemical industries, distribution and marketing, and others as approved by the Registrar General of the Republic of Ghana.
The initial Directors of the company are Dr. Ernest Osei Addo and Mr. Aaron Mintah. The company intends to broaden the directorship with people who have expertise in the various fields of activities as it engages in them.
In order to achieve the objective of the business, the company will enter in Joint Venture agreements with suitable financiers and owners of technologies.
First Project- Paper Mill
The company’s first project is to process wood and other raw materials into paper and paper products. Most West African countries import all their paper needs, a situation that makes a valid case for the establishment of a paper mill that will depend upon local and composite materials as well as paper products for recycling in the production of all kinds of paper for the West African sub region.
The initial site of the Mill is the Dunkwa-on-Offin area in the Central Region of Ghana. Due to the proximity of the area to the mining centers of Ghana, most of the surrounding area is planted with teak and other trees. These trees may serve as the raw material base of the Mill if other studies support its positioning over there.
The Offin River will serve the water requirements of the mill if the area is selected based on results of other studies that will be conducted in the area and other competing areas.
Funding for all our projects will be from private sources and will include equity and debt.
The first phase of the project will be for feasibility studies to determine the suitability of the project in proposed areas. While the studies is going on the company will seek funding to support all phases of the project.
The second phase will be to visit the manufactures of equipment and the placing of orders for the supply of equipment for the construction phase of the project. The company will conclude all land acquisition deals with landowners during this phase.
The third phase will involve the clearing and construction of facilities on the site.
The fourth phase will be the opening of the facility and the start of operations of the company.
A cost element has not been placed on this project at this time because a lot of inputs need to be done to determine the overall cost of the project. Even then certain unforeseen events may cause changes to the project price and we hope that when such changes occur our partners will support us in carrying through the project as we have all envisaged.
Social Responsibility
Our company will ensure that we operate under highly environmentally friendly circumstances. In addition to that our company will seek to support the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Kumasi Polytechnic to produce engineers and technicians who will man the facility. Our social responsibility to the community in which we will operate will require that we support the communities with schools, scholarships, health facilities and other amenities for development.
