As a result he has created an organizational structure (Shumway, Kimball, Korinek, & Arredondo, 2007) to meet the standards of Evidence-Based Practices in accordance with the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Dr. Michael Juarez completed his APA accredited internship in child and adolescent school-based services, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy and his post-doctoral residency in early intervention psychosis in children and adolescents. Our clinicians are trained to use theories accordingly under varying circumstances. Clients who have co-occurring disorders require evidenced based treatments that differ according to individual needs. For example, substance abuse and PTSD as a result of domestic violence may require Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions in conjunction with evidenced based Seeking Safety (Najavits, 2002) interventions or as a result of circumstances that may arise in group or individual counseling, in-vivo exposure may be warranted. There are other areas that require specified interventions in which our counselors are trained to administer. For example, our counselors are trained in Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Psychodrama, and many other evidence-based treatment theoretical orientations. All of our counselors and therapists have special certifications in Domestic Violence and Posttraumatic Stress Disorders and they are State Certified and recognized.
