Description:
Our innovative dc step commutated technology using the latest aluminum core pcb switching only 62 power MOSFETs with a 'constant' 19.3% duty cycle to switch/control 30kW of power at a low cost in a footprint small enough to be located inside the frame of the motor/generator. A conventional 3 phase sine-wave commutated 30kW externally mounted controller uses 128 power MOSFETs at a significant cost premium. I've completed the gerber files and the switching algorithm (less than 200 lines using an Arduino micro-controller) to create a cost effective synchronous reluctance motor or generator without permanent magnets or copper wound/impregnated rotor. This technology can also be used to develop synchronous reluctance direct generators for wind turbines eliminating the need for an expensive, maintenance intensive gear-box without the high cost for rear earth magnets.
