Description:
Hypobaric System Dialysis (HDS) is a new medical device/invention*, with a treatment method, named “Cutaneous Dialysis” (CD) **. The distinguishing benefits of CD are that it is a non-invasive method for transfer (removal) of excessive water and toxins, in sweat, through the skin in relative comfort with minimal physiologic stress. HSD/CD has many potential life saving applications in the treatment of renal failure and other life threatening illnesses without the risk of the frequent serious complications that result from the invasive hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) procedures that are currently in use. HSD/CD could be life saving for patients who are excluded from either HD or PD and in those cases of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) where complications contraindicate continuing HD and PD treatment. The other potential clinical applications of HSD/CD include: treatment of congestive heart failure and pulmonary edema; cerebral and other forms of edema, by providing a non-kidney dependent method for rapid reduction of circulatory volume. HSD/CD’s patented technology has a by-product of its process; it speeds up the body’s natural metabolism, which can help in long-term weight control in both adults and children. Also “detoxification” by “wash-out” of toxic substances, including chemotherapy medications.
