MISSION STATEMENT
Dedicated to promoting better sleep in the communities that we serve. We are committed to education and quality healthcare on the importance of sleep disorder awareness and proper treatment.
Program is dedicated to public education and public awareness of sleep and sleep disorders. Our professional staff has achieved over 60 years of combined experience in sleep disorders medicine. We are responsive to the needs of the community, our patients and referring physicians.
HISTORY & EXPERIENCE
Global Research Associate was established to provide a comprehensive clinical research site and sleep disorders center out of a growing need for public awareness and community healthcare needs. The overall goal of Global Research Associates is to become a recognized resource in medicine and clinical research investigation, by providing unique programs, supported by knowledgeable health care professionals. We take great pride in assisting our patients and healthcare providers in managing neurological and sleep related disease states.
We are currently affiliated with a sleep center that has given us an opportunity to purchase the facility and continue the business in Savannah, Georgia. The sleep center is one of the few sleep disorders facilities in the state that offers a range of studies. All of the studies performed are attended studies and are performed at the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Standards (AASM). Global Research Associates only employs trained sleep technologist, a Registered Polysmnographer who scores all sleep studies and a board certified physician in sleep medicine, who interprets all PSG data.
CREDENTIALING AND TRAINING
The qualifications possessed by the management and staff of The Sleep Center are superior to those found in accredited hospital-based or competing sleep centers. Global Research Associates employs a Board Certified Sleep physician as Medical Director, Registered Polysomnographic Technologist(s) (RPSGT), registry-eligible Polysomnographic Technologists, a Respiratory Therapist, and an outstanding qualified support staff. This is a distinctive advantage Global Research Associates maintains over its competitors.
QUALITY
Numerous diversities in sleep centers, with their unique perspectives on the delivery of Polysomnographic services, have been developed in the last decade. The net effect of this growth has caused deterioration in the overall quality of Polysomnographic testing. Methods such as home studies, compressed data studies, and unattended studies are now very common in some areas of sleep medicine. These procedures deviate from the standards of practice sanctioned by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Global Research Associates assures the technical and clinical quality of its procedures. Through adherence to establish guidelines for appropriate patient care as recommended by the AASM Standards of Practice.
Expediency of Test Results: By integrating state of the art digitized Polysomnographic recording equipment, we are committed to a 48-72-hour turn around time for the distribution of test results. In the “information age”, time is a commodity to the physicians, patients, and hospitals we serve.
DIAGNOSTIC OVERVIEW
The Savannah Sleep Center utilizes Healthdyne/Respironics Alice 5/Alice Sleep Software Analysis System, which collects and stores up to 28 channels of waveforms data with our standard study consisting of 21 channels of study. Recorded data can be reproduced as analog waveforms on paper or reviewed in video display. Trained Polysomnographic Technologists apply recording devices, monitor the polysomnograms and perform diagnostic interventions as indicated. The recorded data is reviewed and summarized and a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist generates a final report. The medical director may also recommend further diagnostic treatment and referrals for the patient when necessary.
Global Research Associates performs diagnostic interventions will include nasal C-PAP (continuous positive airway pressure) and Bi-PAP (bi-level positive airway pressure) titrations on patients who have a diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome. These procedures may also be performed on other patients who have been diagnosed with upper airway resistance syndrome and other respiratory abnormalities upon recommendation from the referring physician. Highly trained Polysomnographic Technologists perform these procedures.
