Career Objective
To provide dynamic technical expertise to organizations striving to
achieve rapid growth and unparalleled success through the
development and application of software technologies.
To work with and lead a group of dynamic thinkers who are highly
motivated to build advanced software based products
on budget, on time.
Experience Overview
* 20+ years involvement in software development.
* 5 years experience managing software professionals.
* 3 years working with and building eLearning systems such as LMS, CMS and SMS.
* 7 years experience in customer communication and relationship development.
* 5 years experience recruiting and building technical teams including programmers, testers, instructional designers
and graphics illustrators.
* Extensive experience in business development through business ownership and entrepreneurial activities.
Major Achievements
* Built a complete e-Learning product line during my tenure at IMED Link over 4+ years. This product included a Learning Management System (LMS), Content Management System (CMS) and Student User Interface (UI). Each of these systems was built using C#, (URL removed) and SQL2000. My responsibilities included Joint Application Design (JAD), modeling with UML and finally implementing and testing the systems. I was the manager for a group of seven developers whom I interviewed and hired. I also built the ten member Q/A group, led two system analysts and managed the content development team comprised of three graphics designers and two instructional designers.
* Another interesting project completed at IMED Link was a PowerPoint 'ingestion' system which read data from PowerPoint slides using an API and stored that information in SQL for later manipulation by the CMS.
* Developed a Health Care portal at IMED Link that included a sophisticated search engine that retrieved abstract information from the National Library of Medicine. Daily news feeds from Reuters were also processed into XML automatically and reformatted using XSLT for display within the portal. There were separate sub-areas of the site that were made available based on the user's profile.
* Designed and created (URL removed) at IMED Link. This site was used to recruit nurses for our e-Learning system.
* At Microsoft I built a system that allowed the Windows Update Group to verify that CAB files hosted on three remotely located server clusters served up the most recent version of each product made available on Windows Update. This was accomplished by placing an ASP page and several DLLs on a separate machine in each of the clusters. Then, a file list to process was regularly transmitted to this ASP page. Once the file list was processed using checksums, a failure list was transmitted back to the reporting machine within Microsoft. Servers containing the outdated CAB files were then pulled from the cluster until they could be updated.
* Created (URL removed) . All work was completed using Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Photoshop. Code was written in PHP with a MySQL backend.
* Design built and tested (URL removed) . This site is based on the lifelong artist work of my father Bill. The site is created using PHP and MySQL. All code is original, including the shopping cart. All of the catalog pages are database driven. Used Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Photoshop extensively.
* Built employee administration intranet application to manage sales payout, bonuses and incentives. Also controls access via active directory interface. Used COM+ and impersonation within (URL removed) to allow appropriate authorization.
* Developed a real-time data replication system that moved data from an internal SQL2000 platform to an external ORACLE 9i platform. A complex data transformation and translation algorithm was derived and documented using UML and the final system was built using (URL removed), T-SQL stored procedures and triggers on the SQL2000 server. This was my most recent project for VOLT which concluded in November 2004.
