Description: There is a unique opportunity for the development of an employment agency that works exclusively with retirement homes. Independent, assisted living and nursing as well as private home staffing needs of seniors. The opportunity is economically attractive in that there are no agencies that work with senior living facilities. The void of agencies in this area is unknown except it appears to have been overlooked by the major placement firms. Most senior homes either advertise for help themselves or use word of mouth but as far as having a placement resource that they can use to staff housekeeping, dining room and kitchen needs there are no agencies. Senior Staffing Solutions (SSS) is an Oklahoma City based company. Its business is to help staff the needs of senior citizen facilities. These staffing needs include housekeeping, janitorial, dining room servers, dish washers, bussers, cooks, chefs and managers. SSS will secure senior facilities as clients, establish what their needs for staffing are, advertise for those needs, screen, hire, train and place qualified personnel to fill the client’s needs. In return the client will pay a fee to SSS for full filling their staffing needs. Fees will vary depending on the class of personnel supplied. Important to the SSS formula will be its systems of recruitment and training. Recognizing the particular needs of seniors which include such things as understanding the characteristic personalities of the elderly, SSS will train all its prospective placement personnel in working with the elderly. This will help the client when the prospect applies to know that the prospect has a general knowledge of the people he/she will be working with and what their particular basic needs of an elderly might be. They will be certified in the basics of working with seniors. This extra effort on the part of SSS makes the company a boutique placement agency as opposed to just a hire and fire company. Another area that SSS will emphasis is in the selection process of its prospects. SSS will be careful in its hiring of prospects to insure it hires people with a temperament that lends itself to working with seniors. This process will be a cornerstone of the companies hiring efforts. Through its hiring and training efforts SSS will quickly demonstrate and separate itself from other employment agencies. Due to the need of an exclusive senior placement agency SSS will quickly become the “go to” agency for senior staffing and eliminate its competition. As stated earlier there are no personal placement agencies in Oklahoma City that deal exclusively with seniors. Through face to face conversations with the owners and managers of many senior facilities the need for a senior placement agency is desperately needed. Senior facilities are like hotels in that they survive on rate of occupancy. The more rooms booked the more successful you will be. The same applies to senior facilities. They survive on maximizing their occupancy. In a recent survey of senior living facilities as reported by AARP they listed the main complaints seniors had concerning their residence. The number one complaint was food followed closely by attitude of the food service staff. Last on the list was housekeeping. In the same survey the number one concern of senior housing owners and managers was food service turn over which included servers and kitchen. Since senior facilities succeed on occupancy which is greatly influenced by word of mouth and given the survey results mentioned above it seems to reason the better the staff the better the word of mouth and the more elderlies lining up to check in. And not to mention that in the same survey owners and managers are constantly complaining about ALWAYS being short staffed with no one to call. Until now!
