The market for blood substitutes is a minimum of 1 billion dollars a year in the US alone. However, all previous attempts have met with failure due to toxicity. In my laboratory at LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport, Louisiana I developed a blood substitute that is safe and effective. In fact it is better at raising the blood pressure than blood itself. Its components have already been shown to be safe in humans. I own the patent 100% which is filed and pending. My company is Innovative Resuscitation Technologies(IRT). My business strategy is to take the product to the preclinical testing stage and then to license the technology. I also need to establish a laboratory that is independent from LSU in order to develop additional patents that derive from this and other inventions in the area of resuscitation. Preclinical studies should take no more than 1 year after which the focus will be on developing a profitable licensing agreement or strategic alliance partnership. More intellectual property is highly anticipated.
