Description: The Estancia Star Theater is a building that is historical to our town. It was probably built sometime in the 1930's or 40's. It closed down in the early 90's and has been basically abondoned. It is a one screen theater, the equipment, screen, seats, and neon lighted sign are still in the building and are all in great shape. The building is in desperate need of repair, and would probably be the biggest expence in getting the theater in working order. The screen would need to be cleaned, the seats would need some work. The projectors would most likely run with some adjustments from my brilliant brother and genius boyfriend :) The building is currently for sale, asking price $50,000.00, however it has been on the market for over two years and I'm sure the price can be negotiated. If I could restore the theater it would be the only theater for 70 miles and there would be nothing like it in this area. My goal is to start a family owned community based business where my children can work and and learn work ethics. Where some Estancia high school kids might get their first job or where elderly low income citizens can work doing things like sweeping the isles. This will be a place where members of the community can come together for things like chick flick night "come in your pj's and no boys aloud", or senior citizens night where we'd play old movies. I would also like to include nonprofit type things such as community plays and use it as a place where our many young talented musicians can have concerts and artists can display their art work free of charge. I am a member of the Estancia Face Lift on 5th Street committee and would easily be able to turn the restoration of this building into a community project with numerous people willing to volunteer their time. Please excuse me for rambling on but as you can see this is something I am passionate about, it's my dream and I have put a lot of thought into it. This is something our community needs and I would hardly be able to express the extent of our appreciation for any help with this project.
