Description: A MODERN DAY JAZZ "SUPPER CLUB STYLE" VARIETY PRODUCTION. A STORY ABOUT JAZZ AND ITS EVOLUTION TOLD THROUGH MUSIC AND DANCE Olio The Show is a modern day jazz production started in January 2007 meant to introduce artistic awareness in San Diego,Ca for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. As a production company, Olio is comprised of artists, musicians, dancers, and poets. Olio is a homogenous mixture of variety acts in which each performer relates and appreciates each other’s artistic forte. The notion of communicating through call and response between each performer and the audience creates a dynamic flow that is exciting and entertaining to all viewers alike. The integration of jazz music and dance as one identity are prevalent throughout the show. The emphasis is on jazz roots and its relationship to modern culture; how the past affects the present, and how it will influence the future. Purpose is to not only provide entertainment with a production show every other month for a weekend to theatre/play goers, but to also educate and be involved in the community. We want to provide educational artistic workshops and performances to the community. This would also provide work for local artists, dancers and musicians.
