Description:
Between The Lines Films / Duke Gaines Productions is and will be a production company through which myself and other producers are given the freedom to independently produce both narrative feature and short films as well as documentaries on a wide variety of subjects. Between The Lines Films / Duke Gaines Productions LLC will be the umbrella and each feature film project will have separate LLC's in order to keep budgets separate. The first short that we will release is called NEVER LIE TO YOUR MOTHER. This short film is in post-production now. Investors for the feature films will be the first to get a portion of their investment returned, then the rest after the film has been released and starts to make money and after bills for that film have been paid. Each investor will get an Executive Producer Credit plus points. Investors in the short films will be able to count it as a gift or as a loss on their taxes. This is due to the fact that most short films never make money back unless they are purchased at a film festival by a distributor intending to group a selection of shorts into a compilation and distribute both on DVD and on the internet. Which, in time, this company may also venture in this direction. The funds for each film will be raised separately from the funds used to run the business (office, salaries, etc.) The office will be the basement of my house until the company has reached a point that a separate/larger more formal office space is required. This (of course) will be determined by the success of the business in its third or fourth years or the success of the first big film produced, whichever comes first. I have gathered three men who are experienced at creating start up businesses as they have started their own in respective fields of biotechnology research ((URL removed)) and the bonds market, an architecture firm. The three other partners (including myself) are filmmakers and a photographer who started his own business (Ken (URL removed)), The link to my website is: (URL removed).
The above mentioned partners will be responsible for recruiting one additional partner to serve on an advisory board.
You can check out the list of investors that I recruited for Never Lie to Your Mother. ((URL removed)%26_In-Kind_(URL removed)l). I am seeking start up funds for the umbrella LLC, Between The Lines Films/Duke Gaines Productions to get the business up and running so that we can get the first three projects into the development process (writing the scripts). We have a novel written by one of the partners that will make a great screenplay, it just needs to be written. There are two screenplays already written and ready for the pre-production steps.
