Description: Despite its proximity to the culturally enriched metropolis of Chicago, the city of Hammond, Indiana, and the region of northwest Indiana as a whole, display a lack of cultural outlets. Very few venues exist for artists to show their work, for musicians to perform their music, and for writers and poets to express their word. Essentially, Indiana grows artists of all types with its hearty corn only to export such talent to Chicago or even Los Angeles. The solution to this particular problem is simple: the creation of such a venue and outlet for the regions artists. A team of local musicians, visual artists, and culinary artists have joined forces to deliver this avenue through the combined forces of a venue called The Modern Underground and the production and promotion team of AMPM with their magazine, free internet radio, marketing department, and recording studio. This union is a symbiotic relationship with the common cause of the common good for arts in the region. Artists will be able to record, get publicized on print and radio, get graphics and art and video, and perform all in one central hub of culture. Afterall, culture and its pure expression are what define an area and enrich it for the mind. Through this venue, various elements of education, information, and entertainment is produced. In addition to creating a more educationally and intellectually flourishing area through culture, one massive enrichment and benefit can never be ignored about culture: commerce.
