Description: SibLinks, Inc. has developed a crowd-mentorship/tutoring platform that is very effective in helping high school students explore their priorities and potential. This revolutionary model requires us to turn conventional wisdom about mentorship on its head and embrace a pragmatic approach made possible with current trends and technology. On October 15th, 2014 (URL removed) will be deployed as the web and mobile applications that will connect high school students to a crowd of mentors. Initially, the mentors are students from MIT, Harvard and Stanford universities, playing the roles of siblings in college reaching back to encourage and support high school students. We deploy a fun and first of its kind networking environment between college and high school students to attract participants. Our experiences have shown that advice from a crowd of very successful college students is on average much more effective than advice offered by a high school counselor. The accessibility of these high-achieving mentors, as well as the proximity in ages, also transformed them into inspiring and attainable role models. To assist mentors we built the most comprehensive tutorial video collection online, encompassing all high school subjects in math, sciences, and English, as well as discussions of college admissions and financial aid applications. Essentially, we built the world’s best high school in terms of social and academic activities, modeled after Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School, where every student can easily attain guidance from MIT and Harvard mentors. Our knowledge base software is designed to learn from the activities of mentors and within a year will be able to handle 90% of the inquiries, making the business model scalable worldwide. SibLinks’s basic products and services will be available free of charge. SibLinks’s main sources of revenue will be derived from the Premium Services as well as the sale of advertisements and educational products to the best demographic on the market: the high school and college crowd.
