I have managed non-profit public radio stations for 25 years. I have been trying to raise funds and find the best station in the best market for sale, and at an affordable price. Radio stations have plumeted in price like all real estate, and this public station in Red River, NM went on the market in 2006 at $350,000. This month we have negotiated the price for KRDR-FM of $50,000 this month. All FCC permits and IRS 501(c)3 are up to date. Transmission, tower, studio equipment are all in place, and with the exception of a few new computers and software, my fiance and I could move in and begin successful service.
The station reaches Taos, Questa, Eagles Nest, Angel Fire, NM. This is the Enchanted Circle of New Mexico. The station would program Americana country, blues, folk rock and bluegrass music. The programming would also include important local news and public affairs, including daily ski conditions and ski and travel safety information. Members of the local media (publisher of the Red River Miner) and ski industry will volunteer to come on-air and provide important information from the downtown Red River community studios.
