Healthcare Economic Outlook
Unlike other industries facing economic downturns, healthcare services continue to make substantial contributions to the US work force. Moreover, healthcare services accounted for over $2.1 trillion or 16% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2007. Within its sub-industries, hospitals made up over 31% of healthcare services provided in the US annually. In terms of revenue, hospitals were responsible for $648 billion in services which made the healthcare sector one of the most profitable and stable in 2007. Outside of the hospitality industry, hospitals employed the most people in the country last year. Due to its high demand for healthcare professionals, hospitals spent approximately 59.8% of its revenue on salary, wages and benefits. In 2006, California employed over 470,000 people in its hospitals. Nationally, this represented 9% of all hospital jobs held by employees across the country. Despite the generous salaries and benefits, hospitals are finding it increasingly difficult to retain highly skilled professionals.
By the year 2014, California expects a 40% growth in its residents between the ages of 55 and 64 years old. This significant influx exacerbates the already horrific shortage of nurses and other healthcare professionals to date.
Shortening the Gap – MEDsearch Invests in Proprietary Technologies
The key to a successful business relationship relies on our ability to “quickly” recruit applicants with very specific skill-sets and match them with our client companies. In May of 2009, MEDsearch launched “MEDharvest” and are presently the only healthcare employment firm (in the Los Angeles region) utilizing this advanced recruiting technology to procure prospective talent based on skill-sets and years of experience.
The benefits of “MEDharvest” include:
- Advanced programming technology spiders national membership job boards, downloading resumes based on variable criteria (searching by skill-sets and years of experience), 24 hours a day, 7-days a week
- Database focused as resumes pulled from subscription job boards become the property of MEDsearch Financial
- Manages all work functions and reporting tied to all open orders and client/applicant communication
- Houses all applicant and “active /prospective” client data
- Provides an “interface console” for all employees (sales, recruitment and managers)
- Shortens the recruit-to-hire ratio by over 40%
- Client companies are matched with better qualified applicants
- Scalable technology supports growth (multiple offices)
Expanding MEDsearch
In its six years of business, MEDsearch is fortunate to have established strong relationships with respected Southern California hospitals and healthcare companies such as Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, UCI Medical Center and Memorial Care to name a few.
Immediate and long-term goals include:
- Addition of internal staff to support the development of temporary (contracted) services in Orange and Los Angeles Counties
- Addition of internal staff to support the development of direct-hire (contingency) fee business nationwide
- Development of the MEDsearch brand to include additional offices and/or franchising
I appreciate your time, consideration and hope to have the opportunity to discuss the very unique attributes that make MEDsearch a worthy investment consideration.
Sincerely,
Brian Burroughs
