The used car industry is a diverse and expansive, and can be defined by automobile type, year and value. Although the industry is heavily represented in all categories, that which is the most easily penetrated is in the used wholesale sector.
Low end used automobiles are auctioned off daily in the greater Los Angeles county area for an average value of $1,000 to $2500 and can be quickly re-sold wholesale at or near 150% of that value. When deemed appropriate those vehicles can be sold retail at 2 to 3 times cost.
Although private citizens are authorized to purchase vehicles at some auctions, a used car dealership is authorized to purchase unlimited vehicles at any auction and can capitalize on the wholesale as well as retail markets.
