Description: US Biomarkers got its start from research that its founders, Victor Levenson, PhD and Anatoliy Melnikov, PhD, did at Northwestern Univ. and Rush Medical Univ., where they developed a new technology for early diagnosis of cancer throughout the body that requires only a small drop of blood from a patient. US Biomarkers’ proprietary MethDet® technology enables it to analyze the methylation state of minute samples of cell-free circulating DNA in blood in order to develop epigenetic biomarkers that provide an highly accurate picture of disease origin, progression and response to treatment. No other investigator has been successful in developing biomarkers with DNA methylation analysis using cell-free circulating DNA in blood. Our core technology opens a wide range of applications including: screening of patients for early detection, identification of aggressive cancer, stratification of patients for treatment, and monitoring of drug resistance . These applications have been validated with our proof of principle MethDet® discovery platform with several diseases (colorectal, breast, pancreatic, ovarian, and lung cancers). We have recently developed and validated a blood-based, clinical-grade assay for detecting early stage colorectal cancer. Our business strategy is two-fold. Foremost, we are engaged with several molecular diagnostic companies who have expressed an interest in licensing our clinical early-stage diagnostic assays (first on our roadmap is colorectal cancer, followed by a breast , lung and pancreatic cancer) Secondly, we are providing discovery and companion diagnostic development services to pharmaceutical companies.
