We inherited a 33acre, marble quarry. In 1830 this quarry produced the white marble used in State Houses in Albany, & Boston. Daniel Chester French had a track of rail to deliver marble from this quarry to his home & studio (now a museum & event center) in Stockbridge. The one acre x 90'deep pit being quarried, flooded creating a unique spring fed marble swimming hole, that feeds down into the river. We own both sides of the mile long river as the property had a bridge & railroad.(tracks were removed decades ago). The ROW leads to the railbed (our road) then to bridge location.
