Description: Founded in 2009, we are a “one stop” community based non-profit organization that promotes stability and self-sufficiency within low income communities located in high income areas. These communities have been characterized as “pockets of poverty” and have been overlooked and undeserved due to their location. E Joy was created in memory of the founders late mother in-law, Missionary Edwinor Joy, who dedicated her life to philanthropy and public service. Our mission is to promote self-sufficiency and stability within low income communities through the provision of direct support and advocacy for individuals and families in need, through our three part strategy; preparation, education and facilitation. •Through local collaborations and corporate sponsorships E Joy, receives the necessary tools and resources to provide life changing programs and services for individuals and families in need. These relationships prepare us to meet the needs of communities to operate as a full service non-profit organization. •Informative programs and services are designed to educate those we serve on a wide range or relevant topics including health and wellness, financial responsibility, healthcare awareness, employment preparation and parent advocacy. •E Joy facilitates independence by assisting those in need with the resources needed to sustain a healthy and stable lifestyle, from an open food pantry, to adult literacy programs and preventative workshops. Our vision is to “transform communities, one life at a time”. We assist low income and disadvantaged families and individuals in order for them to become catalysts for change within their own communities. The communities we serve have been misrepresented and undeserved by local government and non-profit organizations; our organization uplifts these overlooked communities and enriches the lives of their residing individuals. We address the “real” needs of individual and families both immediate and long term, by providing: Open Food Pantry Outreach Employment preparation Informational workshops Free Summer Lunch Program Angel Food Ministries (low cost food boxes) Senior Advocacy / exercise program After school youth mentor and homework enrichment(Sept. 2011) Adult literacy/ESL (Jan 2012) Operating as a fully functional “one-stop” community resource center, we provide a variety of preparatory, informative and emergency programs and services designed to support our mission. Unlike many community based non-profit organizations, our services are unrestricted by geographical and eligibility requirements; our goal is to ensure that every individual or family in need receives the necessary support. If a particular need cannot be fulfilled by our organization on site, referrals and outside assistance are provided to guarantee assistance.
