Description: My stepfather actually started our family pool business in 1986. At 12 years of age I began with him learning to clean, repair, and build pools seasonally in Virginia. The work was only seasonal in Virginia so I also worked other jobs, attended college, studied kung fu, served my country as an Army reservist, and served my community as a deputy sheriff. In 2014 I went through a divorce that brought quite a bit change to my life. My step dad has closed the company around 2010 to retire and move to Florida. With my life at a crossroads, I decided to move to Florida to start over in early 2017. Only problems was, I had lost my car, had no place to stay, and no money at all. Fortunately, Brandy(who is now an employee, had read one of my writing online and had reached out to me. She needed a roommate. I then was able to take sub-contract work for local pool companies. I quickly learned that my knowledge of pools greatly exceded that of the guys I had been subcontracting for. In June 2017, I began getting everything in order to re-open the family business in my own name, AJs Endless Summer Pools. I began with cleaning, maintainence, and repairs of pools developing 40 monthly contracted customers with zero advertising due to lack of financial backing and not enough monthly income. Word of mouth spread amusing other contractors and wholesalers that I knew what I was doing. As I started getting bigger jobs, I quickly realized I would need to get back into the construction side of the business if I ever wanted to make it big! I sold my cleaning, maintenance contacts January 2018 to reorganize and move toward construction. This is why I am here. I need funds for equipment, business expenses, and advertising. I was able to go from homeless, broke, car-less to owner of a small reputable company, I have a new home, a truck, and quite a bit of equipment in less than a year. As stated before, I have accomplished quite a few things throughout my life, none of which compare to what I am striving to do now. I can get it done, eventually, without help; however, the time is right and I am ready.
