Description: Presentation of the Book of Beasts to potential investors Hi there! My name is Arnau Lesperut, head of Hilgard Productions and the writer of the Book of Beasts. At this moment I am associated with three animation studios, interested in the production of this film: a) In the first place with Epoch Ink Animation, with a division in Malasia that allows to produce movies for a much cheaper budget than in the US. b) In the second place with Shadedbox, responsible for many short films appearing in the Lego videogame series. c) And, finally with Rocky Solotoff, producer of beloved movies such as An American tail and the Pagemaster. With this team and the help of the Law Office of Elsa Ramo located in Beverly Hills, we are currently looking for investors interested to fund the movie for the budget of 10.000.000 dollars. With things the way they are we may easily find distributors to exhibit the movie outside the United States, but once we get the funds in place we can even get a distributor allowing us to exhibit the future film in American theatres. You may wonder what’s so special about this story to have so many people involved? The book of Beasts is a political fable in which the fox Renard does the unimaginable to take revenge against a lion that he helped to become the king and later on didn’t appoint him as his royal councillor. The fox already knows of someone better to replace him, such is Orifagne the elephant, and achieves his goal only to see that the new king is worst than the previous one. It’s the perfect comedy for all the family about how to undo one’s own mistakes with a reading that works both for children and adults. Thank you so much for your support and feel free to contact me for more information. Technical aspects of this production The budget that we would like for the Book of Beasts is 10 million USD. That could allow some strong U.S. preproduction teams and strong Malasyan or Indian or Chinese animation studio doing the animation production. The visuals and the soundtrack of the movie would be as great as the best animated film with the only exception that no Hollywood stars would participate in the movie. Profits: the Challenges of distribution The highest challenge that this project may face is to find distributors to exhibit the movie in the US. With things the way they are we may easily find distributors in many other countries like China, Malasia, Europe and in LatinoAmerica but we’ll need the funds in place to get a door opened inside the American market. The movie can already be profitable with just a foreign exhibition but showing it in American theatres could increase the benefits dramatically. Until the very end a big studio could rescue the movie for distribution like Disney did with studio Ghibli so we should keep our hopes up and keep fighting for it with our agents.
