Infant Affection LLC is a 2011 start-up company, which owns a patent for Babee Laptime, “The world first and only Infant Lapseat” . The Lapseat allows its user to hold an infant up to 6 months of age, safely, comfortably and effortlessly for hours on end.
In 2011 the company, launched a sales campaign of the Lapseat for market response. The Lapseat had an incredible instant market response, with possible orders heading upwards of 5,000 in the first month, which had to be rejected by the Company due to the cost of the product being made in America. The Company had real interest from a few of the largest baby product National Manufacturers, such as Gerber.
Unfortunately, the Company could not capitalize on the momentum it created, as we were initially being manufactured in the U.S, at an approximate hard cost cost of $85.00 per unit, with a sales price of $129.00 and needed to be at a much lower manufacturing and sales price.
We have taken the information and recommendations from the National Manufacturers and retailers and the data collected from the test release, and have modified the Lapseat manufactured in China, reduced the Lapseat in size, changed the manufacturing method from foam to injected plastic and most significantly shipping ready from a distributors warehouse on the east coast or the west coast for a total cost of $22.00.
2) THE LAPSEAT
The Lapseat is trademarked “Babee Laptime” an infant lap seat. It is a contoured injected plastic base, surrounded by soft, padded Minkee polyester fabric, that contours around the holders’ legs both front to back and side to side to allow the infant to sit sideways on the users lap or front to back so the infant can face you. The Lapseat has a five point harness for securing the infant in the seat, while it also has a belt that secures the seat to the user, to allow for comfortable safe use.
The Lapseat has the following significant benefits:
1) The Lapseat, when used promotes bonding between the infant and the user, which bonding has known beneficial effects, such as they establish strong ties between parents and their child, provide the baby's first model for intimate relationships and foster a sense of security and positive self-esteem. And parents' responsiveness to an infant's signals can affect the child's social and cognitive development.
2) The lapseat is designed to allow the infant to be fed both by bottle and breastfeeding in an upright 30 degree angle. A 30 degree angle when used during and after feeding is the researched & proven natural way to alleviate colic/reflux. Having the baby remain in the seat for 30-45 minutes after each feeding will help relieve acid reflux symptoms.
3) The Lapseat is designed to allow for comfort and ease in spending time with the infant. Everyone knows the love and enjoyment spending time with an infant brings. The seat allows the holder, The Mother, Father, siblings, Grandparents, Godparents, friends and family or anyone the parents desire, to safely, comfortably and enjoyably, hold the baby effortlessly even hands free for hours on end (without the parents having to worry about child safety).
