epower engine systems has developed a proprietary, series diesel electric drive-train system for CLASS 8 vehicles, which reduces fuel consumption by at least 50% under normal conditions of use, without any reduction in performance. The system uses proven off-the-shelf components in a proprietary configuration which has been facilitated by recent innovations in electric motor control technology.
While the epower system, in common with other hybrid units, relies on two sources to produce, store, and deliver power (conventional internal combustion engine and electricity) no advanced battery technology is employed. Standard, inexpensive, readily available lead acid batteries are utilized which is a significant benefit to the cost of the system over current hybrid technology.
