Andrew Yim was born in Santa Monica, California and grew up in the Mar Vista area of West Los Angeles and then the Palos Verdes Peninsula where he attended high school. At the age of 15, Andrew started his owned business that quickly failed. Learning from his mistakes, he focused on his education, experience, and leadership. At the age of 21, Andrew would eventually find his passion, career and hobby; he vigorously entered the real estate investment, development and finance industry. In 2003, Andrew had the good fortune of meeting a great mentor in Albert Womble, Principal of the Long Beach based Womble Group. Al took Andrew under his wing and gave his the opportunity to serve as his apprentice. Albert was 75 years old at the time and a veteran master land developer, lender, investor and Venture Capitalist. While serving as Asset Manager for Mr. Womble, Andrew proved useful by originating investment opportunities, identifying projects, underwriting, analysis, project & asset management in an effort to develop over 1,000 multifamily units in Southern California, funding bridge loans too other developers, identify Joint Venture partners, and managing consulting teams and vendors. Working with Mr. Womble everyday made a huge impact on Andrew’s life both professionally and personally. In 2007, Andrew had a change of pace and moved back to the South Bay area of Los Angeles and was recruited to served as Vice President of Business Development to Raju Chhabria of Shorewood Realtors. Raju was and still is a Los Angeles based mega broker focused on high-end, luxury home sales on the Palos Verdes Peninsula and surrounding beach cities. Andrew was responsible for overseeing new business opportunities, listings, marketing and sales. That year, Raju’s team went on to sell over $250 million of real estate. Andrew again had the great fortune of working and learning from a excellent business man. He became an expert in the luxury residential business and learned from one of Top 5 Realtors in the Country who has closed over $2 billion in lifetime sales. In 2009, Andrew went on to manage Acquisitions for the Emrani Family at Venice Investments. A huge textile family, the Emrani’s had a $300 million portfolio of development projects including several parking lots under development. Andrew spearheaded the identification and consummation of new investments and presented them to the four brothers and managed the family general partnership. In 2012, Andrew worked with a Cory Johnson at Latitude Properties and served as Acquisitions and Asset Manager where he managed the full life cycle of an investment portfolio in order to acquire, renovate, reposition 100 single family homes in the Antelope Valley and Bakersfield. During and after this project, Andrew partnered with his employer and started a finance company. At Twin Pier Capital Andrew served as Co-founder and Managing Partner while raising around $10 million of capital to fund bridge loans in less than a 12 months. The company broke even with a small profit year-1, but the partners would eventually disagree with management ideas. Andrew sold is ownership interest for a 17x Return on Equity. Other notable projects Andrew has managed are Oceanside @ Vine, LLC which was a 34-unit apartment to condo conversion in Oceanside, CA., and Signal Hill Conversion LLC, a project to acquire and convert a burned down convalescence hospital into a Self Storage Facility comprised of more than 300 units. > California State University, Long Beach (International Business & Finance) > President of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and the Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC) > President of International Business Association – Student Chapter.
