Description:
FOX 1410 is a 1000-watt start-up station that ran from September 2008 until July 27th, 2009 until the leasing partnerhsip made the decision to change-up to ownership of the station resulting in the station taking a break from operation in pursuit of this new move. In it's final, month it was generating above-average income and was headed into it's biggest quarter for the Lafayette, IN market. It was driven by Purdue football, holiday advertising buys, and back-to-school sales advertising. Two of the main reasons for deciding to pursue ownership was because of the poor start-up capital by the initial financial-partners and operating under an expensive LMA (Local Marketing Agreement allowing us to use the airwaves of the station without actually owning the license). As the former CEO and Sales Manager of FOX 1410, I would like to attract partners or a sole partner to help bring the station back into operation under a new company and sustainable capital. Our sales were very good for our first year and the goal is to 're-launch' in order to recapture all of our audience as well as to bring on many new listeners and increase the audience through an agressive, but short marketing campign. We were coming upon our first year anniversary and had attracted outstanding talent in our management and on-air staffing. In 20 years of broadcasting, I have personally never seen the local community and businesses rally around a radio station like I had with FOX 1410. FOX 1410 is the only news/talk station to have been operating in the Lafayette market which also equals out to having a station that would have zero direct competition, always good in business!
The capital I am looking for is to purchase the station straight out and operate as a news/talk FOX affiliate for the Lafayette area for the initial months. This also allows us to have a successful marketing campaign announcing the return of the station as well as attract back the top managers and talent to the station, which is very obtainable right now. Our top rated and highest grossing shows included, Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and The L-Town Hour which was a local magazine hour focused on the headline-makers around the Lafayette/Tippecanoe community. The potential gross of Glen Beck and Rush together was more than enough to cover operating costs by themselves, and our final set included a 9 show weekday line-up, all of which had potential. The great thing about news/talk in Lafayette is we have zero competition. Nobody else is doing news/talk and since it is a dominant radio format by almost a full 10% difference (17.9% share) above top-rated country (9% share), it's a serious business to get into.
I would love to talk to a potentially interested partner(s) or investor(s) if radio is something you would like to get involved with.
