To whom it may concern,
My name is Amanda Wheat. I am the rightful owner and developer of (URL removed). I have been developing this project for 3 years. This is a social network platform designed just for teens, ages 13-17. I have uniquely designed this platform with an age filter and a content management filter. The age filter is unique because we not only screen for an age requirement but I also have an age limit requirement. Most social networks available to this age group only set an age requirement of 13 years old and do not restrict the age of the user beyond that. The content management system has been implemented to help reduce sexual content and cyber bullying. It is my vision to provide a clean place online where teens can have the social networking experience without the fear of being exploited.
There are a couple more things that make my platform unique. We are all aware of the Amber alert system and how it works. This is a very important tool when a child has been abducted. On my platform I have proudly implemented this system. Within seconds of there being an Amber Alert issued, it will be available in plain view for my users. Who better to get the word out than a group of teenagers? The alert cannot only be seen on my homepage, but it will appear on every page within my domain while the user is logged in. My developer tells me that my website is the only one on the internet that has this feature. As soon as the child is found the alert will automatically come down. We all know that the Amber alert system has saved lives because of its effectiveness. I am happy to assist with this system by putting in the face of my users.
Some more unique features on this site are the information I am providing. I have chosen 10 links that I found on the internet that have very valuable information and is pertinent to the age group of my users. Knowledge is power. I have chosen these links to give this age group information that could save their own life. One of them is a link to a website called (URL removed). This is a map for registered sex offenders. This can be very important to a teen that is not aware of the dangers lurking around the corner. I have implemented the (URL removed) link to help provide information to my users that are in need of food in their homes. On my homepage you will find a link to the (URL removed), promoting this website could definitely save a life. These are just some examples of information I am trying to provide to my users. The possibilities are endless on what can be made available.
There is a warning at registration to my users to not give out any personal information and a warning to never agree to meet up with anyone they meet within my domain. No other social network actually warns their users of the dangers of socially networking. I could not rightfully have built this platform without broadcasting this warning. I have also provided my users with an email address to report any suspicious activity. I want them to feel comfortable being in the domain, and want the creepy people to know that I am here for my users and will not tolerate any exploitation within my domain.
I have reached out to you today to ask for your contribution so I can promote this product. Please consider helping me with this. If we do not offer an alternative to social networking then we as parents and citizens are saying we are fine with the way our teens approach it. Our teens today are under enough peer pressure at school all day, but now come home and are under a lot of pressure to keep up with much older adults online. Most teens do not even know that hundreds and thousands of registered sex offenders have been deleted from Facebook. If we give this information to them, then it could stop them from uploading questionable photos and their personal information.
This truly is a worthwhile project and it needs to be used by every teen in this country.
