Five One Films is a collaboration of writers and producers Ali Barr and Sally Meyer. They formed this company as a production vehicle to obtain funding, produce, film and market their unique stories.
Five One Films also collaborates with other production companies and seeks funding one picture at a time so funding can be divided by the project or it can be combined into several different films.
Ali and Sally have films in different genres and are currently working on a feature length thriller to be filmed in Utah with at least two name actors with good sales records in Europe and Asia.
Five One is looking for Private equity of 20 or 25% of the picture budget. The other 75-80% will be obtained through foreign pre-sales, state tax incentives for motion pictures and gap loan.
Films typically pay back investors over 3-5 years with the majority of sales in the first and second year.
The most important elements are story idea, script quality, a recognizable name on the cover and a great title and pitch.
Return on Investment is typically 15% on the equity plus points awarded on the back end. Payments are paid out to investors over the sales period as the film cycles from theatrical release, to video on demand, DVD sales and other internet distribution.
